Blood clot indifference
Email 09/26/2021
Mr ______,
Just a quick email between calls. We just transported a 39 y/o male, in great physical shape, having what I believe was a pulmonary embolism. No medical history except for taking the Moderna jab. He is a nurse and said he took the Moderna shot 3 weeks ago. He told me that he developed swelling under his left arm almost immediately after his shot. He said it was tender, but he didn't think much about it until he noticed that there was what felt like a firm rope under his skin on the under side of his left upper arm. He went to the doctor on Friday and was told that the "rope" was a large blood clot. He says his doctor just told him to take aspirin and not to get the second shot. No mention of risk of PE, MI, or CVA from his doctor. Just go home and take aspirin... for a clot large enough to feel with your bare hands. As usual, the ER staff wasn't concerned about him taking the shot. Quite the opposite. It's a badge of honor if you took it. Everyone looks the other way when you suggest "vaccine side effects" as the root cause. This patient knows though. He kept saying "Why did I take that stupid shot?", as he fought back the tears on the way to the hospital. He said he thought he was doing the right thing. Now there's a chance he may not make it out of the hospital, especially if he throws another clot.
Still no pandemic out here. Our call volume remains on the low side. There were years (pre covid) where it was nothing to run 8+ calls in a 12 hour shift in my area. I'm running 1 to 3 transports per shift these days. As far as staffing goes, we're already short staffed. Right now we are being paid ____ stipends per shift if we pick up extra shifts.
God is good. God gave me a great career that I have loved. And as it's being ripped away, He's given me a way to stay secure financially until the next door opens. God is good. ☝️
