ER covid tests
Email 10/05/2021
Mr. ______,
It just keeps getting more absurd. Just an hour ago we had a male in his early 30s having an outpatient esophageal endoscopy that aspirated a copious amounts of vomit during the procedure. He went into cardiac arrest during our transport to the ER. In the ER he regained a pulse and was put on a vent, which is normal procedure for post cardiac arrest care. However during resuscitation the ER covid tested this man. What I found absurd was the urgency to covid test this young man who had obviously aspirated vomit.
I also had a fully vaccinated 38 y/o cardiac arrest patient not long ago that was tested AFTER he was pronounced deceased in the ER. I guess they'll leave no nose unswabbed in their pursuit of that federal money.

PS: Call volume still somewhat lower than average, but the majority of my patients are jabbed as of late. So far we're still just being warned that our mandate is coming, but no dates have been set as far as I know.
