Hostile hospital visit
Email 03/17/2021
_____,
Just following up on my earlier email about my girlfriend's mother. First off, she's doing better. She was in the emergency room for approximately 7 hours today, had a CT and a MRI to rule out stroke. To our surprise, they allowed her daughter (my gf) in the emergency room with her. After 7 hours, a CT, and a MRI they determined that there was no stroke/TIA present. But they said they found some cervical spine stenosis that may be impinging a nerve and wanted to admit her overnight and do another MRI in the morning.
Everyone was professional and nice, but this is where things took a turn. A nurse came to the ER room with a covid test after 6+ hours of already being in the ER. My gf has been well informed about these tests, and like me does not believe the covid lie. She asked if this was a rapid test. The nurse said "No, this one takes 24-48 hours". My gf then asked "Why are you doing a covid test that takes 24-48 hours if she is only being admitted for 12-16 hours max, and why take a test if she has no symptoms?". The nurse would only tell her that it was mandatory to be covid tested at this hospital. My gf then asked "So hypothetically, if the test is positive how does that change her care since she has no symptoms?". The nurse then raised her voice and said "I am not having this discussion!" and stormed out of the room. A little while later she returned with two more nurses to tell my gf how irresponsible it was to not take a covid test when the test is mandatory. (Take the test because we say so, right?) The nurse said that without a test they couldn't admit her to the hospital. At this point we decided to sign out of the hospital since the initial emergency had been resolved anyway. The nurse then says "So you're ok with her just walking around out there with covid...". The rest of the visit got very hostile verbally, but they were allowed to leave.
Thank you for helping us be prepared to stand up to this medical tyranny. We were able to use a lot of the info you've provided in our argument against these authoritarian nurses today. We are truly afraid to let them isolate our loved ones in the name of 'covid'. How sad is that? We appreciate all you do.
