My old textbooks
Email 02/13/2023
Mr ______,
Just out of curiosity I pulled out my old text books from EMT and paramedic school. Attached are pictures of the text books, their copyright date, and pictures from the index in the paramedic volumes showing myocarditis, pericarditis, and SADS were not things that were on anyone's radar in EMS. Same story in the EMT text book. They were so rare that we weren't really taught much at all about these conditions. As far as I know SADS didn't exist until 2021, but the other two were only mentioned by our instructor in passing. Why? Because they were <Fauci>raaaaare</Fauci>.
It's been a while since I was in school, but I still think it's an interesting example of how these 3 terms have gone from not being taught to medical providers to common household terms. Also we're being taught things like axis deviation on EKGs now. Which should help us identify level of damage and inflammation a little better.
Great show. Thank you for all you do for us out here.
